Money Isn't Everything...Or Is It?

Money has value. Oh, so much value. Yet everyone's always saying "Money isn't everything." But frankly, I disagree with that ... from a certain perspective. Keep reading if you think this is gonna be worth your time (I promise, it is.)

Yolo, what's up guys? I am Rhea Alvin, blogging my opinion on everything interesting under the sun (and frankly even the moon, I do most of my typing at night). If you liked my blog, subscribe and stay tuned :)

Yes, money is not everything. But here's the catch, we use it every day all the time. We use it to pay our bills, we use it to buy groceries and sometimes we throw money at the problems too. Some corrupt officials accept money to do illegal things like leaking exam papers, bribing people into voting for them at elections, etc. We are also in anticipation of a promotion, cuz well well well, it means more money. This is like saying you don't like the army but want its protection. It's just wrong.

I am pretty sure you agree with me. If you don't, comment down below as to why.

Money is a very controversial topic, so let me make it clear that I am merely expressing my opinion.

Money can help you build a life ... and destroy one too. It drives people to do mad things and makes them crazy ... but it can pay your hospital bill too. It can make you happy ... or really ferocious. It can keep families together ... or drive them apart. Money has all the power, all the chance, and all the friends. What is the appropriate reaction to something so dangerous, it is unsettling? When it has so many toxic side-effects, why do we use it every day? Isn't a beggar a person with no money? If so, then why do we allow it to bring rifts between us and the people we love most?

We allow it to do so because money started out innocent, like a young child in the coat of honesty, one that decays as he/she grows older. It started off as the barter systems (exchanging items for something of the same value), then went to metal scraps in the shape of coins and finally to the bills, notes, and coins we know today.

So, money huh? You must be feeling pretty weird right now. Handling money is like handling a hand grenade and we do NOT want to set it off, do we?

Money isn't everything, and yet we cannot say that we can live without it. We work at our favorite profession and money ruins the whole idea. We live on budgets and hope for a promotion or are trying to save up money for a new house.

It is a vastly adverse idea, a beautiful concept, marred by corruption. But it is just an idea, a dream printed on paper. It has no real account, but we put our lives into its hands. Just because somewhere, someone said that this tiny piece of paper has value. But now, the entire world is hooked and there is nothing we can do about it.

But wait, are we sure about that? Money isn't everything and everyone knows that. Some people give up worldly luxuries so that they are not swayed by the allure of money. So how 'bout we try to implement it? It will be hard of course, and is actually impossible. But how about trying to give up unnecessary use of money, for a week perhaps? Or a day, if it might help.

Now the rest is up to you, if you want to try spending some time away from money or not. You don't have to do it your entire life, just maybe like a week or something. If you do try it, tell me how it went in the comments below.

Happy living, everyone :)
