The Good Face Of Lockdown
There are two sides to everything. Change your angle and you will see a whole new aspect. And the new aspect is always worth it. Because, when it comes to a fresh perspective, it is hard to find most of the time, but when you do, it is unforgettable.
So, the entire world is in lockdown right now. And since none of us are going anywhere, we might as well take a look at the good face of lockdown.
THE GOOD FACE OF LOCKDOWN
Well, the lockdown has been hard. For us. For the daily-wage workers. For the hundreds of mortals who do not have an income. But beneath the shadowy gloom that is put forward upon first glance, the lockdown might just be what we need. A bit of downtime, a break from stress.
This pause from civilization, although not a very welcome one (Man is a social animal, right?), is probably exactly what the doctor ordered. Though we won't admit it, there are a few who are glad of this break, me included.
We used this break like we would an indoor summer, making ice-creams and chilled buttermilk, slurping on Aam-Panna (an infamous drink made of mango), playing board games, and binge-watching a whole bunch of movies. We tried new recipes, like marble cake or cookies or Chinese mushroom fried-rice.
But the best part was how we spent time with our family, as a family. The family jokes and teasing that ensues when you are enclosed in one, tiny space, the simple mistakes that make you roar in laughter, the fun of being together that was long forgotten. Lockdown is our way of bringing back that culture.
This lockdown, I learned how to cook, that pans which were on the stove 5 minutes ago will still be hot and that you should not look away while using the blender ( I learned some of these the hard way 😁). I learned how to clean kitchentops, chop and boil veggies and why my parents are so exhausted after cleaning the house. My dad started cooking, my mom became 'Commanding Head Chef' and I became wary of hot pans. I also learned that measurements can be toggled and that family time is the best.
Yolo, what's up guys? I am Rhea Alvin, blogging my opinion on everything interesting under the sun (and frankly even the moon, I do most of my typing at night). If you liked my blog, subscribe and stay tuned :)

I enjoyed persuading my mom to let me make ice-cream and see the delight on my dad's face when he tried it. Of course, they both had work from the office but that doesn't mean I did. I wiled away the rest of my time video-chatting with my grandparents and friends and calling myself from different phones (It's fun 😉). I started this blog, worked on my novel, and reset my goals.
I probably had more fun than I was supposed to, considering the fact that nearly half the world has been impacted so brutally by COVID-19, but I would be lying if I said that this was no fun.
Obviously, I had a (kind of) wonderful season. How about you? What did you try during this break? Let me know (and give us ideas) in the comments.
